About GoRemit
Is GoRemit genuine and licensed?
Yes. GoRemit is run by Aabhushan Forex & Jewels Private Limited, RBI FFMC Licence No. MUM-FFMC-1041-2023. You can check the licence in the RBI's list of authorised money changers, and visit our offices in Borivali West. Our company details are on the About us page.
Who can buy forex from you?
Residents of India aged 18 or over with a PAN, for travel and other purposes permitted under FEMA; parents or guardians for minors; and companies for business travel of their staff.
Rates and charges
How are your rates set?
From the interbank market rate plus a margin that differs by product. Rates move during the day; every quote shows our rate and the market rate side by side. The live rates page shows today's rates.
When is my rate locked?
When your payment succeeds. On any order you can instead pay a refundable 2% booking deposit to hold the rate for 2 hours, then pay the order amount by bank transfer or UPI before delivery or collection. The deposit is refunded when the order is completed.
Do you charge extra for paying online?
Only the payment gateway's own charge for net banking and Visa / Mastercard debit or credit cards, plus GST — it is shown before you pay. UPI, RuPay debit cards and bank transfer (NEFT / RTGS / IMPS) are free.
Where can I see what I have paid?
On the order tracking page: the Payment status box shows the deposit, the order amount, what is still due and the deposit refund, and Payment history lists every payment with its reference. Your invoice (and SWIFT copy for transfers) appears there too, and is e-mailed to you when the order is completed.
What will I pay on top of the rate?
GST on the currency conversion (on a slab, not the full amount — ₹180 on a ₹1 lakh purchase), a small delivery or service charge with GST, and TCS only if your LRS total this year crosses the threshold. All of it is shown before you pay. See charges and fees.
Why was my amount rounded?
Notes come in whole notes, so a currency amount is rounded to the nearest multiple of its smallest note (for example 5 for EUR, 1,000 for JPY); cards load in whole units. The rupee total is rounded to the nearest rupee and shown as a separate "Round off" line.
Limits, documents and tax
How much currency can I carry?
Up to USD 3,000 equivalent in notes per trip; the rest on a forex card. Your total for the year under LRS is USD 2,50,000, counting everything you spend or send abroad through any bank or money changer.
Which documents do I need?
PAN, passport (photo page and address page), Aadhaar or another address proof, the full round-trip air ticket and the visa where needed. Students also need the admission letter. The full list is on our KYC page, and the order form shows exactly what your order needs.
What is TCS and do I lose it?
Tax Collected at Source applies when your LRS total for the year crosses ₹10 lakh. It is not a cost: it is credited to your PAN and adjusted against your income tax or refunded through your return. See LRS and TCS explained.
How early can I buy?
Up to 60 days before you travel.
Orders, payment and delivery
How can I pay?
UPI, net banking, NEFT/RTGS/IMPS or a card — always from your own account. Cash at a branch only up to ₹49,999. Payments from someone else's account are refunded.
Can I choose the denominations?
No. We hand over the denominations we have in stock, and an order cannot be cancelled because of the mix. If a currency runs short after you book, we may change the amount to what is in stock and tell you before handover; the difference is refunded.
How fast is delivery?
Same-day delivery across Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Goregaon, Jogeshwari and Andheri for orders confirmed before 2 pm. We call before leaving. Only the traveller can receive the order, with original documents; if a delivery is missed, collect it from the branch within 2 days of ordering. See the delivery policy.
How do I cancel and get a refund?
From the order tracking page, by phone or by email. We deduct only real costs (rate loss and gateway charges), and refunds go back to your account within about 3–10 working days. See the refund policy.
Forex cards
Notes or a card — which is better?
Carry some notes for the first day (taxis, food, SIM card) and the rest on a card: it is safer, can be blocked if lost, and usually gets a better rate than notes.
How do I reload or close my card?
Reload online from our site while you are abroad. When you are back, place an encashment request and the unused balance is paid into your bank account.
Sending money abroad
Why is there a 2% booking deposit?
It holds your exchange rate while we verify documents and you pay the order amount (or, for transfers, pay the remittance partner). It is refunded in full once your order is completed. If you cancel or do not pay in time, it is kept to cover the rate we held for you.
Do you send the money yourselves?
No — but you can do everything online with us. Book the transfer on our site, upload documents and add the receiver; once we verify them, you pay the partner bank directly by UPI, net banking or NEFT, and the bank sends the money. We charge no fee for arranging it.
How long does a transfer take?
Documents handed to the bank branch before 2 pm are processed the same working day, and the SWIFT copy is shared the next working day. Credit to the beneficiary then depends on the receiving bank.
Coming back
What do I do with leftover currency?
Sell it back to us at our buying rate — we can pick it up from your door in our delivery area. Residents may keep a limited amount of foreign currency notes for future trips; the rest should be sold back within 180 days of return.
