1. University fees and deposits

Tell us the amount, the university's bank details and who is paying. We check the documents, then book your visit with our partner bank, which sends the money by SWIFT. Choose "I pay all charges" so the full fee arrives. You pay the bank directly; GoRemit charges you nothing for this.

2. A student forex card for living costs

Load US dollars, pounds, euros, Canadian or Australian dollars and more on one prepaid card, reload it from India while you study, and encash what is left when you return. Student cards get our lowest card margin.

3. Cash for the first days

Carry a small amount in notes for taxis, food and a SIM card on arrival. Notes come in the denominations we have in stock.

Documents

  • Student's passport (photo page and address page), PAN and Aadhaar
  • Admission letter — I-20 (USA), CAS (UK), offer letter elsewhere
  • Student visa, if issued, and the air ticket
  • For fee transfers: the fee invoice or letter showing the amount due; loan sanction letter if paid from a loan; relationship proof if a parent pays

Common questions

How should I pay university fees?

By bank transfer straight to the university. We prepare the transfer and refer it to our partner bank, which sends it. Fees cannot be paid in currency notes or on a forex card bought from a money changer.

Is TCS charged on education payments?

Nothing if the payment is from an eligible education loan. From your own funds, nothing up to ₹10 lakh of LRS in the financial year and 2% above that (from 1 April 2026).

How much cash can a student carry?

Up to USD 3,000 equivalent in notes per trip, for immediate personal expenses. Put the rest on a student forex card.

Can parents pay?

For transfers, yes — the remitter can be the student or a close relative such as a parent, paying from their own account. For notes and cards, payment comes from the student's or remitter's own account as the order shows.
