Cancellation and refund policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This policy explains when you can cancel, what we deduct, and how fast refunds reach you.
Booking deposit (all orders)
To hold an exchange rate you can pay a refundable booking deposit of 2% of the order amount (for orders where you sell currency or encash a card to us, the deposit is how the rate is held). The deposit is separate from the order amount — it is not adjusted against your bill.
- Order completed: the deposit is refunded in full to the account you paid it from, within 2 working days of completion (for sell and encash orders, with your payout).
- We cannot complete the order (stock, KYC verification failing through no fault of yours, our error, or the partner declining a transfer): refunded in full.
- You cancel, or do not pay the order amount / hand over the currency or documents within the rate-hold time: we first offer to re-price the order at the current rate; if you do not want that, the deposit is kept to cover the cost of the rate we held for you.
- A payment-gateway charge paid on the deposit (net banking or Visa / Mastercard cards) is not refunded. UPI and bank transfer are free.
Currency notes and new forex cards
| Situation | What you get back |
|---|---|
| Order placed, nothing paid yet | Cancel any time, free. |
| You cancel after paying, before handover | Everything you paid, less (a) any loss from the rate moving since you booked — the difference between your booking rate and our buying rate at the time you cancel, if lower — and (b) the payment gateway charge actually incurred. GST and TCS collected on a cancelled order are refunded in full. |
| You paid only the 2% booking deposit and did not pay the order amount or give documents within 2 hours | We first offer to re-price the order at the current rate. If you do not want that, the deposit is kept as explained under Booking deposit above. |
| We cannot complete the order for reasons on our side (for example a currency is out of stock and you do not accept a changed amount) | Full refund, with no deductions. We bear any rate loss and gateway charges. |
| We change the amount because of stock | The difference is refunded in full, or adjusted against another currency if you ask. |
| Delivery missed after our confirmation call, and the order is not collected from the branch within 2 days of placing it | Cancelled as if you had cancelled it (row above); the delivery charge is not refunded. |
| Payment from someone else's account, or KYC not completed or rejected | Full refund to the account the money came from. |
| After handover | Currency and cards cannot be returned. We buy back unused notes at that day's buying rate, and card balances can be encashed (see below). |
Forex card reloads and encashment
A reload cannot be cancelled once the issuer has credited the card. To get money back from a card, place an encashment request: the issuer pays the unused balance at its buying rate to your own bank account, usually within 5–10 working days of the request, once any pending card transactions have settled. Issuer fees for encashment, if any, are shown before you confirm.
Money transfers abroad
Booking deposit. To hold the exchange rate for your transfer (for 24 hours), you pay us the refundable booking deposit of 2% of the transfer total, on the terms under Booking deposit above (refunded within 2 working days of the transfer being sent). The transfer amount itself is paid by you directly to our remittance partner (RBL Bank Ltd, Thomas Cook (India) Limited, Prithvi Exchange (India) Limited, EbixCash World Money Limited), never to us.
Cancellations and refunds of the transfer amount are handled by the partner under its own policy, and once a SWIFT payment has been sent it can be recalled only through the partner and the receiving bank, with their charges.
How to cancel
Use the order tracking page, call +91 83569 24029 or email hello@goremit.in with your order number. You get a written confirmation with a reference number.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go only to the account or card you paid from — never in cash or to another person. We start the refund within 2 working days of cancellation. UPI, net banking and bank transfers usually arrive in 3–5 working days; cards can take up to 10 working days, depending on your bank. If a refund is late, contact us and we will share the bank reference so you can trace it.
