Check bank details before you send

A wrong SWIFT code or IBAN can delay a transfer by days or send it back with charges deducted. Paste the details from the university invoice or bank letter to check the format instantly. Nothing you type here is saved or sent anywhere.

SWIFT / BIC code

8 or 11 characters. Shows the bank code, country, location and branch.

IBAN

Used in Europe, the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia and many others. Checks the length for the country and the check digits.

US routing number (ABA)

9 digits with a built-in checksum.

IFSC (India)

11 characters: bank code, a zero, and the branch code.

PAN format

Checks the pattern and holder type. Forex and LRS need an individual's PAN (4th letter P).

Passport number

Indian passports: 1 letter + 7 digits (older) or 2 letters + 6 digits (newer e-passports).

IFSC codes are looked up in the RBI branch list (via the free Razorpay IFSC directory) and SWIFT codes in the public GLEIF register, to show the bank's name. These checks still can't confirm that an account exists or who owns it — always get bank details in writing from the receiver, and call them to confirm before a large transfer. Be wary of emails asking you to pay to "new" bank details.
