Selling leftover foreign currency and encashing your forex card

How to sell unused notes after a trip, encash a forex card balance, the documents needed and when the Currency Declaration Form is required.

Notes

You can sell leftover foreign currency notes to us at our buying rate, or keep up to USD 2,000 for your next trip. Notes are checked for genuineness and condition before the rate is confirmed.

Forex card

The unused balance is encashed at the card encashment rate and paid to your bank account.

Documents

  • Passport with the arrival stamp, PAN and Aadhaar.
  • A cancelled cheque or bank details for the payment.
  • The Currency Declaration Form (CDF) if you brought in notes above USD 5,000 (or notes and travellers' cheques above USD 10,000) — it is filled at customs when you land.

How you are paid

Small amounts can be paid in cash; larger amounts go to your bank account by bank transfer. Payment is made only to the person who sells the currency.
